What Lockdownify is

Lockdownify is a desktop application that runs as a system overlay on macOS and Windows. It provides on-screen AI-assisted answers while remaining invisible to screen-capture-based proctoring tools.

These terms govern your use of the website, the desktop app, and all related services.

Your account

You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep your login credentials secure.

One account per person. Sharing your login defeats the way Lockdownify validates active subscriptions and may result in your account being suspended without refund.

You are responsible for everything done from your account, whether by you or by someone you gave access to.

Subscriptions and payment

Lockdownify is billed monthly or annually depending on the plan you select. Charges are processed by Stripe; we never receive your card details directly.

By starting a subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the price displayed at signup. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access through that period and are not charged again.

We do not offer pro-rated refunds for partial periods, with one exception described in the next section.

Bypass guarantee

If you are formally cited for academic dishonesty solely on the basis of using Lockdownify during a proctored exam, we will refund every subscription payment you have made and reimburse the exam fee for the exam in question, up to a reasonable cap.

To claim the guarantee, email support@lockdownify.app with documentation of the citation (an academic-integrity letter, a screenshot of the proctoring report, or the equivalent). We process valid claims within fourteen days.

The guarantee does not apply to citations that result from a method other than Lockdownify — for example, looking at a phone, switching tabs, or using a second device.

Acceptable use

You agree not to redistribute the Lockdownify binary, decompile it, or attempt to remove its login requirement.

You agree not to use Lockdownify in jurisdictions where doing so violates applicable law.

You agree to comply with your institution's academic policies. We provide a tool; how you use it is your responsibility.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are sharing logins, abusing the service, or using it to harm others.

Your content

Anything you upload to your knowledge base — class PDFs, slides, notes, homework — remains yours. We make no claim of ownership over your materials and do not use them to train any model.

You grant us only the minimal license required to store and process your files so the product can function on your behalf.

Service availability

We aim for high availability but make no guarantee of uninterrupted service. The third-party AI providers we rely on (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) can have outages outside of our control.

If a third-party outage prevents you from using the service during a scheduled exam, contact support and we will credit your account fairly.

Disclaimers

Lockdownify is provided as-is. We do not warrant that the AI responses are factually correct, that the bypass will work against every future version of every proctoring tool, or that the product is suitable for every use case.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Lockdownify is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change, we will email every active user at least seven days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date is your acceptance of the new terms.
